Timeline is a timeline maker add-in for Microsoft PowerPoint. In order to successfully install Timeline, each machine must meet Microsoft's requirements for add-ins.
Requirements
The following versions of Windows are supported:
- Windows 10 (64-bit version; LTSB, CBB and CB)
- Windows 11
Note: Timeline does not work on Windows 10 S. The add-in is functional on Windows XP and Windows Server but unsupported. See here for more information.
The following 64-bit versions of Microsoft are supported:
- Microsoft 365
- 2021
- 2019
Note: If you are still using 32 bit , our recommendation is to plan to migrate to 64-bit as soon as possible.
The following components are required:
- .NET Framework 4.8.
- the latest version Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable
- Microsoft Edge WebView2 Runtime
- .NET Programmability Support for PowerPoint must be enabled in Microsoft . This is typically enabled by default on installations.
The user should install with Administrator rights in order to have the most stable installation.
System memory requirements:
- Minimum 8 GB of RAM
Recommended screen resolution and scaling:
To avoid display issues, we recommend using a resolution of 1920 x 1080 or higher, with scaling set to 100% or 125%.
Timeline Add-in is designed to display and function properly at certain screen resolutions and display scaling (zoom) settings. The chart below shows which combinations will provide the best experience.
How to read the chart:
-
Resolution refers to your screen’s width x height in pixels (e.g., 1920 x 1080).
-
Display scaling refers to how much you zoom in on items in Windows (e.g., 100%, 125%, 150%).
If a resolution is marked "Proper" for a specific scaling, the add-in will look and work as expected. If marked "Improper", you may see visual glitches, overlapping, or content that doesn’t fit correctly in the add-in interface.
Example:
-
If your screen is set to 1280 x 1024 and you use a scaling of 150%, the add-in may not display properly.
-
For best results, use a resolution and scaling that both show “Proper” in the chart.
| Resolution | 100% | 125% | 150% |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1920 x 1080 | Proper | Proper | Proper |
| 1680 x 1050 | Proper | Proper | Proper |
| 1600 x 900 | Proper | Proper | Improper |
