Install Office Timeline with Elevated Privileges
Overview
In some corporate environments, user accounts may be restricted by group policies or security settings. In these cases, Office Timeline may appear to install successfully but may not function properly.
Because Office Timeline installs per user, administrator rights are not typically required. However, certain security policies or restrictions may interfere with installation or add-in registration.
Solution
Ensure that Office Timeline is installed in the user context and that no security policies are blocking installation or add-in registration.
Steps

Uninstall Office Timeline
Click the Start menu, type Apps, and open Apps & Features. Select Office Timeline and click Uninstall. -
Reinstall using the latest version
Download and install the latest build from: https://www.officetimeline.com/updates
Make sure the installation runs in the user context. -
Restart PowerPoint
After installation, close and reopen PowerPoint.
Verify the add-in is enabled in PowerPoint:- Go to File → Options → Add-ins
- Select COM Add-ins → Go
- Ensure "Office Timeline" is checked -
Run a repair installation (if needed)
If the add-in is still not functioning:- Go to Apps & Features
- Select Office Timeline
- Choose Repair -
Check for environment restrictions
If the issue persists, your organization may have policies that restrict:- Installation into %LocalAppData%
- Add-in registration
- PowerPoint add-in loadingContact your IT administrator to review these policies.
Administrator privileges are not required for most installations. However, in environments with strict security policies, IT administrators may need to adjust permissions or deployment settings to allow the add-in to install and load correctly.
