A) How to create a custom template
-
Start a new timeline or open a previously built one. For timelines created with older versions of the add-in, you may be prompted to first update the slide before you can use it.
-
After you’ve finished styling your timeline, click the Template button and select Create Template (the big "+" icon).
The timeline will be saved in your template gallery for future use.
B) How to import into a custom template
-
Click New on the Office Timeline ribbon and then double-click the template of your choice to open its preview window.
-
From the preview window, click on the Import button, select the project management tool you wish to load your data from, and then follow the usual import steps.
Note: The same steps are valid if you wish to import data into one of the add-in’s pre-formatted Styles or stock templates.
C) How to apply a custom template to any existing timeline
To change the look of an existing timeline, users can instantly apply a custom template to it or switch to a different style. To do so, click the Template button on the ribbon and select the preferred template or style from the menu.
D) Share your custom template
To share a custom template with your team, simply open it in PowerPoint (create a timeline slide out of it), and then save and send it as a .pptx file.
Then, instruct your team to open the timeline slide and click Template -> Create (+) on the Office Timeline ribbon to save it as a template on their own machines.
E) How to rename or delete a custom template
To rename a custom template from your gallery, simply click New on the Office Timeline ribbon, right-click the template you wish to rename, and select Rename.
To remove a custom template from your gallery, click New on the Office Timeline ribbon, right-click the template you wish to dispose of, and select Delete.
