Fit more data on the timeline slide

Overview

If your timeline or Gantt chart has too many tasks and milestones that are beginning to run off your slide, you can adjust them quickly using Office Timeline’s controls to maximize space. Here’s how you can create room to fit more data on your timeline:

Steps

  1. Adjust the thickness of your task bars. Select the task bar (or task bars) you want to thin down and, from the Style Pane on the right, change the Size to Thin. Click Apply to all to transfer the same size to all other tasks.

Note: You can do the same for milestones inside Swimlanes - reducing their Shape size will take up less space, allowing you to fit more data on your slide.

  2. Group multiple tasks onto a single row to save space and fit more items on your slide. Find out all about showing tasks in a row here. Inside Swimlanes, you can even place milestones on the same row with tasks to optimize space.

  3. Change the spacing between timeline rows (tasks, floating milestones, or items grouped on one row). You can adjust the space below a task, a floating milestone or a group of items by selecting the desired item and then changing he spacing as needed in the Style Pane.
