Symptoms
When trying to install or update the Office Timeline Add-in, the installation fails and you get an error message that says “Setup has encountered an unexpected error”:
Overview
This issue typically occurs when one of the prerequisites is missing on your computer. Office Timeline requires Microsoft Visual Studio Tools for Office Runtime (VSTO, for short) and Microsoft Edge WebView2 Runtime to properly function.
In order to develop a new build faster with the hotfix included, we would appreciate it if you could send us the installation logs attached to an email to support@officetimeline.com. The logs can be found on this location: C:\Users\YourUserId\AppData\Local\Temp\OfficeTimeline.log

Download and install Office Timeline using the following pre-extracted setup that allows the install to happen without issue:

In case you get an error message saying that you need to install Microsoft Edge Webview2 Runtime, you can download and install it by going directly to Microsoft's website: https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/p/?linkid=2124703.

Open PowerPoint and check if the Office Timeline tab is visible in the PowerPoint ribbon. This means the add-in was installed successfully.
