      Difference between Office Timeline Add-in Editions

      The Office Timeline Add-in is a PowerPoint timeline maker for Windows that comes in multiple flavors: Free, Pro, Pro+, and Expert. All versions are fully functional timeline makers, but they offer different levels of access to key features. Below you can find a comparison between the Free, Pro, Pro+ and Expert editions to help you figure out which of them would suit your needs best.

      Office Timeline Add-in Free vs. Pro vs Pro+ vs. Expert

      • The Free Edition is a lightweight tool good for making simple timelines or Swimlane diagrams that don’t require a great level of detail. It has almost all the features available in the premium versions, but limited to maximum 10 milestones and/or tasks per slide. What’s missing is the ability to use the add-in’s pre-built templates and to import data.

      • Office Timeline Pro Edition removes the 10-items-per-slide limitation and unlocks the built-in timeline and Swimlane templates, allowing you to quickly make detailed, professional visuals for your presentations. It is ideal for those who wish to make timelines, Gantt charts and Swimlane slides. If you want to show Sub-Swimlanes and dependencies, you will need Office Timeline Pro+.

      • The Pro+ Edition gives you everything you get with  Pro and unlocks advanced features like Sub-Swimlanes, Multiple Timescales, Dependencies & Critical Path, so you can make advanced, yet easy-to-understand program roadmaps and portfolio slides. It also comes with Sub-Swimlane templates to help you get ready for stakeholder reviews in just a few minutes.

      • The Expert Edition gives you everything you get with Pro+ and unlocks powerful features like the ability to create custom timeline themes, to share themes to easily standardize project visuals across teams, or to save your timelines as reusable templates.

      1. Can I upgrade my existing add-in subscription to Pro+ or Expert?

      2. Can I edit an Expert or Pro+ edition timeline in the Pro add-in?

        Yes, timelines made with Expert or Pro+ Edition can be edited using the Pro add-in as long as they don’t contain elements specific to the higher Edition.

      3. Can I edit an Expert edition timeline in Pro+?

        Yes, timelines made with Expert Edition can be edited using the Pro add-in as long as they don’t contain elements specific to Expert.

      4. Can I edit a premium edition timeline using the Free add-in?

        Timelines made with the Pro, Pro+, or Expert add-in are not editable with the Free add-in. However, you can still make changes to them using PowerPoint’s controls, as you would edit any other slide.
